Ode to the Moon

O, silver shining ball of light,
We bow, to thy might.
Perched above in the night dark,
Vigilant, to the dangers that bark.
The shimmering clouds know thy tale,
Thy divine story, is not for sale.
Mere mortals can only look,
The sublime beauty, is like a hook.
Free from this earthly cage,
Silent guard, a true sage!

A magical object to the child,
The white light, makes them wild.
Part of many ancient folk-lore,
That mothers tell, kids adore.
Present always, on all date,
Thou make, the best play mate.
All secrets safe, does lie,
In thy vast heart, thou tie.
Free from this earthly cage,
Silent guard, a true sage!

A companion to the lonely dove,
A witness to the lover’s love.
An ethereal beauty thou let
To the romance, the stage is set.
As thou take thy routine twirl,
Underneath, the boy proposes his girl.
Thy radiance kisses her face,
The boy, follows thy trace.
Free from this earthly cage,
Silent guard, a true sage!

Thou fascinate the wise scholar,
In thy study, they spend a dollar.
What treasures in thy heart, thou hide?
Humans race for it, waving the tide.
A small step, a giant leap,
Unbiased shine, thou heap.
Huge arrangements only to meet,
To be a part of thy wonder, thy feet.
Free from this earthly cage,
Silent guard, a true sage!

Alone on a lonely night,
Thy glow, holds me tight.
My fears unto thee I park,
Thou lead me, I follow thy mark.
Fighting the storm, the thunder and gale,
Thou still, do not turn pale.
I can see thee from every nook,
Beneath thee, a rest I book.
Free from this earthly cage,
Silent guard, a true sage!
